Online store migration: switch platforms, not your business

The switch happens while your store keeps selling. Products and customers move over, old URLs lead to new ones, and a CloudCart expert is by your side from the first conversation.

Sales keep going · Old URLs redirect · An expert by your side

  • 1 of 4The old store keeps selling. Products arrive in the new store with their variants and images.
  • 2 of 4Customers and blog posts move over.
  • 3 of 4Every old URL gets a 301 redirect to the new one.
  • 4 of 4You test with sample orders. The domain switches over, and the new store starts selling.

Who handles it

Three paths, the same result

Choose based on your time, team, and catalog. No third party stands between you and us.

Path 1

Our team handles it

CloudCart people, not an outside agency. We handle the technical side: URL mapping, products, customers, testing, and the switch. You keep selling.

The scope and price are discussed with an expert, not listed here.

Path 2

You handle it with the tools in the admin

Import products from XML, CSV, and Google Sheets, and customers and articles from CSV. Upload redirects from old URLs in one batch using a CSV file with old and new URLs. AURA support is by your side at any time.

A good fit if you know your catalog well and are not in a hurry. Some imports are included in higher-tier plans.

Path 3

Your developer handles it

Admin API with bulk operations for teams that want to migrate programmatically and check every record. The result is the same catalog. The path is technical.

The timeline

Same steps, different scale

The switch follows a clear process: import, URL mapping, testing, switchover. The steps are the same for every store. Only the scale changes.

300

products and one country

A small catalog is not “too small.” It goes through the same four steps, just faster.

The same steps, planned in advance and carried out in stages with our team. A large catalog is not “too big for a platform.” It belongs on a higher-tier plan.

The expert tells you how long your switch will take after reviewing your store. We do not promise a timeline without a review.

Before you decide

Five questions before every switch

The fear of switching is greater than the pain that brought you here. So we answer the five questions everyone asks, one by one.

1

Will sales stop

No. Your old store keeps running while the new one is built at a CloudCart address and tested with test orders. The switchover points your domain to the new store at a time agreed on with you. The change takes anywhere from minutes to 48 hours to propagate, and both stores stay live during that time.

2

Will I lose my Google rankings

Every old URL redirects to its new one (301) before the store goes live: products, categories, articles and pages. Redirects are uploaded in bulk from a CSV file and checked after launch.

3

What exactly gets transferred

Products with their variants and images, categories, blog posts and customers with their name, email and group. Every product import stays in “Import history,” record by record: what was created, what was updated and what has an error.

4

Who handles it

Our team, you with the tools in the admin, or your developer through the API. No partners or agencies in between.

5

How long does it take

It depends on your catalog, the countries you sell in, and the systems that need to connect. That’s why we give you a timeline only after the assessment, not before.

What stays

Sales keep going, URLs keep working

Your customers would be the first to notice the switch. That’s why their old links and bookmarks keep working.

4
Your domain stays yoursIt points to the new store, and the certificate is issued and renewed automatically
3
Ad parameters pass through the redirectgclid, fbclid, and the main UTM tags reach the new URL, so clicks from Google and Meta continue to be tracked
1
Your old store keeps selling until the switchThe new store is built and tested separately, without your customers noticing
2
Every old URL redirects to the new one (301)A permanent redirect tells search engines the page has moved, not disappeared
5
Products, categories, customers, and articles move overIncluding variants and images; every product import stays in the history
13,418URLs with 301 redirects in a single URL update
30minutes to process them

A real example: product URLs in a live store were changed through the CloudCart Admin API, and every old URL leads to the new one.

Before the switch

Questions everyone asks

01 / 05

Is there a period when both stores are running

Yes, and that’s the standard approach. The new store is built at a CloudCart URL while the old one keeps selling. Once everything is tested, the domain points to the new store at a time you choose.

02 / 05

Can I do it myself

Yes. The admin includes product imports from XML, CSV, and Google Sheets, customer and article imports, and redirects from old URLs via CSV. Some imports are included in higher-tier plans. If you get stuck along the way, AURA support is available at any time.

03 / 05

What happens to my domain and email

The domain stays yours and points to the new store through Settings → Domains, with a certificate that is issued and renewed automatically. Your email stays with your current provider: its MX records are added in the domain settings in the admin, so email keeps working.

04 / 05

Do old image and file URLs move over too

Images are uploaded with the products and get new URLs on our platform. Redirects apply to store pages: products, categories, and articles. They do not apply to individual files.

05 / 05

How much does migration cost

The price depends on the scope: how many products you have, how many countries you sell to, and which systems we need to connect to your store. An expert gives you an exact price after reviewing your store. Only then do you decide.
